Hi all , just bought a new battery for the ve today and was wondering if there are any precautions i need to take when installing it? I have heard stories of people who have changed their battery then it won't start and have to get it towed to holden. Is there anything that needs to be reset after fitting new battery also do you need to hook up a 12v auxiliary power under the bonnet . The battery in my ve is about 7 years old and starts ok but don't want to be stranded with winter not far away . Thanks

Changed the battery in my VR355 a few months back. Found the receipt last week, from 2012.
Motorbike battery replaced last year after 5 or 6 years.
Also replaced the original battery out of Wifes '07 Epica late last year.

That made me just realise that I got 3 batterys in under a year.

Having changed a battery once I didn't have any dramas
Just out with the old and in with the new
I might have had to set clock again.
7 years from a battery is unheard of these days
That's old school
Well done.
Yeah certainly got my moneys worth out of it. Even if a new one was put in when i bought it that would make it 5 years old which isn't too bad either . Supercheap had a sale on so i thought I'd grab one.

I did the same a couple of weeks ago

I purchased a projecta 9v interim power supply ($14) which allowed me to keep all my settings

Make sure the ventilation tube is installed and that the other end is blocked off

Finally, just make sure that you don’t crush the terminal when redoing up the 10mm nuts

Oh and, neg first to d/c and pos first when reconnecting

When my old VEII SV6 battery went flat, RACQ was amazed to find that it was still the factory battery. It lasted 7 years too!

My original had some codes stamped into the top edge of the battery, think it had the manufactured date there.
Just had a look and has 08 April 2012 0859 so looks like the original one .
