Just wondering if anyone has any good suggestions putting side skirts on my VR. The previous owner used this black glue that I can see on the 2 piece skirts I have, it's on the top section that goes under the doors...
Is this a good idea using glue? What screws do I use for the section under the car, and how will I hold the top that goes under doors without using glue...Or will it stay there?

    Cheers.

Use the glue it's called sikaflex. It's used on mine front, side and rear. Go to a holden spare parts and ask for the screws. If they say they don't have them for the VR/VS then just get the ones they use on the VT,VX,VY or VZ.

Cheers Nick! I was sorta trying to avoid it because I'm going to give her a respray at the end of the year. I just wanted to put them on now that was all. It should still be alright, I just wont get the bottom section resprayed I suppose...

Ive actually got some of that sikaflex muck that I had used on the boat. Would windscreen sealant be any good as well? I can always scrape that stuff off easier.

i remember when i had a pair of clubby skirts, i went to put em on my VS as a temporary fit, i screwed the sides in with 2 screws each side and probably 5-6 screw on the bottom and as for the top part of the skirts i just left it as is, there was only a tiny gap.

Alternativley you could give the skirts and the paint surface of the car a good thorogh clean and apply a long strip of double sided adhesive and see how you go from there.

Cheers Ridah, yeah nar maybe I'll just put the glue on and then be done with it.
You wouldn't happen to know how much the screws are from Holden?
Knowing them it probably like $10 bucks a screw lool.

Dunno how much the screws are, the guys that did my respray got them for me cos they fitted them. Might as well hold off putting them on if your doing the respray, I had my whole set for about 8 months before putting them on.

I used sikaflex and mounted the skirt up and drilled the holes in the underneath of the car to suit the fastener in the middle of the slot in the skirt. As for the bottom mounting hardware I used the same fasteners as you use to hold the inner plastic front guard to the body but took out the plastic screw and used a standard black trim screw and off course the normal screw in the wheel arches at the skirt edges.
