Is it possible to take off the power steering pump and pull it apart and give it an overhaul yourself? It is making the annoying whining sound but the fluid level is fine and I think it has been run dry in the past as its been making that noise since i bought it. If not I guess I'm gonna have to fork out for a new pump but I really would prefer not to??

Cheers guys

On another thread recently, somebody said that the only difficult part was removing and replacing the rear circlip that holds the thing together. Otherwise, it was pretty plain sailing. My Haynes manual gives details on what to do to dismantle and re-assemble the pump and it looks reasonably straightforward.

Have a look for the other thread using the Search facility to see what's involved.
