What is 'flex fuel' ? A new brand name for fuel ? A new fuel system? A fuel additive?

the ability to run a variety of fuel grades, 91 through 98 and ethanol additive fuels up to e85.

I don't know the answer to the OPs question, but I wonder why you would bother with spending thousands on a car to make it run e85 with direct injection LPG systems offering the same or better power and economy than petrol and its a tried and tested system thats already in lots of cars on the road.

Would be a big task. All the rubber seals would need replacing because of what the Ethanol does to them for a start.

thanks guys, am looking at LPG, dont want to lose boot space, the donut tanks are only around 50litres though then space for spare wheel, liquid injection more than likely the best way to go, flex fuel conversion was done by CHE and only cost about $1500 so makes for some interesting research, there is a conversion on ebay (flex fuel sensor and tune for $500 you need to send your ecm to them for programming and the rest you do yourself)

If your car didn't come with LPG already it's going to be a long time before you see any cost savings after conversion. Want a cheap car to drive get a corolla not a V8 commodore.

agree on the return of savings for LPG, was just doing some research and came across a few items (e85 tunes lpg tunes) and saw the conversion kit on fleabay so I thought i'd ask a few questions, if you worry about the price of fuel you definately shouldn't be driving a v8,

where can you readily buy E85? i have never seen it for sale, around here all we have is that E10 crap.. and good old regular petrol + premium

If you want economy its time to sell the V8 dude lol dont be a scrooge and try to make a performance engine in to a green machine :)

A lot of United servos sell E85, but mostly all in the South East.
