i just picked myself up a free lightened solid flywheel + clutch plate + pressure plate from a friend, but they both have had their faces pretty worn to the extent that there's some pretty impressive grooves worked into them.
What sort of places are out there that could do this for me?

The fly wheel can be done at any Good Engineering shops. As for the pressure plate, just give it a de-glase with some 180 grit wet & dry sandpaper.

ditch the pressure plate and get a new one and off to the engine builders with the flywheel wont cost much to skim it off if there is enough meat left on it after its been lightened before
