Ford to kill GT Falcon early

Ford is calling quits for FPV and won't try and compete with the most powerful production car the HSV GTS.

However is this great news?

What will this do to competition now that HSV no longer has its main rival?

This is a concern and a sign of things to come. HSV is losing its main and only competitor.

From there, its only options are to try to compete with AMG and BMW's M badged cars. I don't see that fairing so well.

On the plus side, be able to pick up a HSV pretty cheap in a few years. :)

This is not great news. It's not even good news. I feel like this is just further Americanisation of Australia.
Would this mean the mustang would become HSVs new rival? Would another performance company spring up to hot up the mustangs and the bloody gay tauruses? would they even need it? How long until GM kill the holden and force us to take up camaros and corvettes and other bowties? When, inevitably, will cars come fitted with burger-holders as well as cup holders? This ponders so many questions.. dammit Ford..

well the mustang is going to come along. (well that's what they were saying in the cars guide in the herald sun on Friday)
so yes I would say they will use that to replace the FPV cars.

but what is to say FPV will actually shut down.
although it may be hinted at, I could still see them keeping that and doing things to cars such as the Mustang.

bit of a shame really.
but if ford are shutting up shop and not really going to produce anything here then it would be a bit weird just to have the performance side here.
but you never know...

fpv no longer exist in the sense of a seperate entity as they were with Prodrive.

Ford now totally own and run fpv so if ford shut down so will FPV. There will be no fpv mustang ford will just import them and sell as they do with the ST focus.
