Ford v Holden, does it really matter?

Discussion in 'Just Commodores Polls' started by JD, Sep 27, 2007.

Would you buy a ford if it was better than any holden you saw with a similar price?

So if there is no replacement for displacement, why is it BMW etc can create 3.5 litre V8's that go better than our 6.2 litre V8's?

Seriously, one eyed supporters are annoying, both companies make **** cars evenly :p

Just curious why you don't think that Japanese or European sedans should be in Australia?

Not having a go, just curious to know the logic behind this.

Personally, I prefer Holdens... not really based on anything other than I like Holdens. The BA are a good looking car and I am a fan of the xr6t.

That said, the only reasons my next car won't be a euro sedan are:

    1. Part and labour are mental
    2. The huge and primative LSx engines do sound brilliant in my books... and considering that an M5 is WAY out of my reach at the moment even though it sounds orgasmic... the holden will have to do... :p

Good point, I have to say having these cars in the market should push locals to make better cars. The main reason i switched to Jap is because the overall build quality and price was much better than anything local.

Im a holden man, always will be, but as long as its australian made, thats fine.

Older, more primitive EFI 5.0L's will always mean more to me than Chev 5.7L's or anything made in europe either.

i got offered my current car (2001 VX s1 Commodore Acclaim) for $4500.
if i was offered a similar ford (that wasnt an AU) for similar money in similar condition i may well have bought one, actually got a v8 EB falcon sitting at home waiting for me....

I doubt it. From my experience Ford forums are more biased than Holden forums are. If you asked this same question on a Ford forum I can almost guarantee there wouldn't be a near 50/50 split.

Ford Forums are way more nasty with this kind of thing, it would be 90-10 Fords way and the 10% would be Holden guys that are registered over there :p

Doesnt realy matter IMO.. Ive owned heaps of fords in the past.. cortinas and falcons and all be good cars...I still get a kick out of seeing old school V8 coons driving about as the same as old school Kingdom wagon,s whats not to love about them?

im a ford supporter, but tbh i rekon all the fords pre BA look like absolute **** boxes. there like ford lasers just a little bigger. so for this fact and the main fact that i dont have enough to afford a BA or newer, i got a commodore. which i rekon love and looks good and also is awsome to drive

    Cut it out!

If you ask me, I think the whole Holden vs Ford thing is silly, we should be going international and put the Commodore and Falcon against the European and American manufacturers to show them what Aussie cars are all about. Insted of having a civil war which gets us nowhere.

I love my Commodore Ute, even though i trying to find a Falcon Ute. They're basicly the same car.

I suppose you make a good point. Maybe Holden, and Ford fans should take a step back, and look at the bigger picture instead of trying to rip each other's head off with bitter garbage.

I would rather a Commodore, or a Falcon than most cars. I mean what else can you buy around the price of a XR6T, or SS that's as comfortable, offers the same perfomance, and is practical as an everday car? You wont find much.

Ford holden whats the difference they are both crap just a matter of who's marketing strategy targets you best
after working on both over the years and comparing them to european cars like bmw audi porsche etc
I come to the conclusion that holden and ford alike are 20 years behind and must have some stoned drunk monkey in charge of quality control

But i am a hypocrit i still own two holdens and feel the need to smack myself up the back of the head because of it

your not wrong their brutal towards holden, every thread and i mean every thread has a slander towards holden.

they havent made a good ford after the XC, the clevo jobbies had soul, the newer ones "are soul"

For most people Holden is a family tradition. No matter what happens you stick with that tradition and dont break it. Its a little like christmas for some, its just something that you would NEVER pass by. Or a religion for example, if your a christian you not in hell going to become a Muslim and visa versa. Unless your names Craig Lowndes but lets not go there :whistling

P.S. I voted holden, can you tell? And by the way, ive got nothing on ford, they make great cars except pre-BA...
