Ahem, 3 months shy of 10 years for the first run (VB-VL) - October '78 to July '88

VN-VS was technically 9 years - July '88 to July '97.

Yes, you're right.

Sorry, I'm half asleep today. Been a heavy week....

Holden can't use VD 'cause apparently it's a disease.

You could always go backwards like Holden did? FE, FC, FB, EK, EJ, EH.....

Doesn't that sound a little too Ford for you?

Then scatter all over the place: HQ, HJ, HX, HZ, WB..... Or LC, LJ, LH, LX, UC.

Back to Kingswoods and Toranas???

When has Ford gone backwards with it's codes? Going from XY to XA doesn't count 'cause Ford wanted to use up all the letters before 'K' (Y'know, XK).

Another thing did you know that the X Line kept going right up until only 1999? When the EA Falcon came out, the XF Ute kept on going and going 'till 93 when the XG (facelift, not based on E Line) came out? Then then the XH came out in '95 with an XD arse end and dash but an EF front (oddball I know...) and it was finally killed in '99 when Ford brought out the AU Ute (they decided to call it the same as the sedan/wagon again...). The XH was the last true aussie built panel van too... (the VY-VZ doesn't count 'cause it's just a canopy sitting on the back of a ute...). That's my history class for the day..... :whistling .

Quite the opposite actually, Holden made the FB, FC and FE years before Ford used those codes on LTDs.

And although Holden used EH, EJ & EK, ford skipped around those codes when it used the E series some 30 years later.......

So I'd say ford are sounding a little too HOLDEN.......

You can probably exclude VF and VJ cause they were Valliant models and we've had the VG ute, so there's really not much else left.

Only, VA, VI, VO,VV and the previously identified and highly unsuitable VD!

Didn't stop Holden using VH & VK some 10 years after Chrysler used the same codes on Valiants, so I don't think they'd worry 30-40 years on!

Oh - VC, VG and VE were also Valiants too!
