hi guys i have a vs v6 sedan went to change the front brake pads i got the caliper of where its mounted with the 2 bolts but the caliper is seized up i cant get the 2 peices apart i been floggin it with a mallet but the 2 guide pins just wont let go its really frustating any1 got any ideas cheers muz
I can't tell from what you said if you got the 2 bolts off or not ? Generally you only need to undo 1 of the bolts , the one furthest from the strut , then the calliper swings up and the pads come out. You need a good socket on the bolt and a spanner on the pin from memory. Put the mallet away , you will brake it , the mallet that is.
I had the same problem with my VR, i accidentally snapped the pin inside the boot so i went out and bought a whole new brake unit n just hooked it up. Either do that or use some serious wd-40 or grease. Good luck
go to a good tool shop (Maybe bunnings... ) look for something made by LOCTITE called "freeze" it cools the bolt down RAPIDLY which causes it to shrink a little, and it should come out a lot easier.. its good stuff!
