Hey guys, when the front of the car is jacked up I can shake the front left wheel side to side by hand. I changed the front left hub as I though it was the problem but it didnt fix the issue.

Upon further inspection it seems as though the joint where the steering rack meets the steering knuckle has play in it.

Can anyone help me out here?

Thanks

I think you are talking about the tie rod end. Just buy a new one (not too pricy) and fit it. Then get a wheel alignment.

Might as well replace both sides, they're cheap enough.

if it is tie rod, i agree that you should do both sides. you will need a wheel alignment regardless.

When you do it make sure you only just undo the lock nut and put the new tie rod back to the same depth. This is so that it will approximate your current alignment so you don't shred tyres on your way to the alignment.

Also check your rack boots. If they are ripped get as set and have then replaced at the same time.

And if there is fluid in the boot, it may be the rack leaking, as I unfortunately found out.
