Hi,

Can I put my stock spring in a shorter strut? (assuming it is because my mechanic put all new shocks/struts when he lowered my car *Bogue Turbo*)

I read somewhere it is a shorter piston.

Is it easy to change the spring? Can anyone link me to a how to dismantle the strut or give me some quick tips/instructions.

I can only find "how to remove strut" not how to dismantle it...

Thanks

I can't comment on the factory spring on the shorter strut component of the question, as I've never really heard of anyone wanting to go down that path.

But thinking about it, the factory spring would be under a far greater force and would probably sag, place undue force (and wear) on both the strut top bearing assembly and the actual shock assembly itself.

As for the instructions, take a look at this and see if it's what you're after:

That is an excerpt from the VY Factory Service Manual...

Why did they put a short shock on the stock spring? Should of put lowered springs in to match the shocks

Because I had it lowered on Super Lows in my Spack but I have swapped the shocks and springs onto my SS but it is too low and I am scraping my exhaust everywhere.

At the moment, I have stock rear springs with shorter shocks

Why not fit V8 SL springs in the front instead of the V6 ones? They are a different spring rate and won't sit as low.

To answer the question, yes you can, you will just have less up travel in the suspension. Only really a problem if you want to go over humps really fast, like lumpy railway crossings.

The stock height spring will need a fair bit of compressing to get it on though.
