it makes a click noise, quite loud from the drivers side.
obviously gets faster as you speed up and ive tried swapping wheels so not that.
I tried searching it but it seems as if everyones just guessing and naming parts.

Good place to start would to see if the CV boots are split open. If they are, it's pretty much diagnosis confirmed.

Definitely CV joints have had the dick. Good way to check is full lock, try doing a few figure eights and they will click their heads off. The balls within them get a flat spot

Good to hear lol. Just change the shafts mate its sounds very likely to be the solution. Then if you manage to stuff it up just tell her barinas are the work of the devil and shes much better off without it but at least she still has you, hopefully.

Have a look and see if there's a stone caught in the tyre tread.
Don't laugh.....It does happen.

C.V's normally do the clicking thing when cornering as they wear out.

Stone in the tyre is also a definite possibility. Stone trapped in a brake calliper is even worse but that just squeals :(

I've got same prob in a laser. Got new cv's still clicks, tried new wheels n tyres still clicks. My solution is to ignore it. It's just a ford.

Replacing front half shafts isn't normally very difficult and the sound you are hearing is more likely to be a cv joint than any of the other suggestions (apart from the trapped stone). If you try turning through complete circles or the figure eights like earlier suggested at low speed in a quiet cul-de sac, with a smooth road surface to cut down on tyre noise, the noise will be most apparent and you can isolate which cv is shot. I doubt that a carrier bearing will "click" as it only rotates on a single plane whereas the cv rotates at varying angles under greater load. If it was the carrier bearing, it would be more likely to grumble similar to a wheel bearing.
