VZ SS 6.0litre "Thunder" Ute - Auto
Hoping somone has an idea................I bought an Aunger locking cap for my SS Thunder ute, as the standard cap is non locking.

The cap has performed without question for 3 months.....except for today.

The cap when locked freewheels. Great.

I have now unlocked the cap, and it ratchets, both when turning to remove, or turning to tighten. Hence I cannot remove, and the trip computer says 70kms 'til empty. :ranting: Shyte!

Failing any ideas, I will need to book it into my dealer for some assistance.

Push down hard on it, whilst you attempt to turn it. Should "lock" the ratchet setup.

I wouldnt do that. 1. Stuff will fall into the fuel tank.
2. The drill motor could set the fuel fumes alight. KABOOM.

Force the lock with a screwdriver....

Insert the screwdriver into the lock with pressure to break the locking mechanism...

the lock mechanism only sits in the upper section of the cap, therefore "stuff" wont fall into tank, secondly the cap is sealed so therefore wont set fuel alight, have done it several times to customers cars with the same auger cap, use a cordless drill on low /variable speed, and just drill top of barrel enough to expose tumblers.

OK, cool. Says something about the auger cap if youve done it several times.
