    Fuel tank size!

Can someone please tell me how big a fuel tank is in a VS Series I Statesman.

The owners manual is telling me 73L, and carpoint is telling me 80L.

The litres left in the tank when full full reads almost 84L,
but when i fill it with the trip telling me a mere 10km till empty, it only
takes on board 75ish at the most.......

Can someone please tell me a garenteed figure.

    Cheers in advance.

59 on the exec and 73 on yours - thats from the GMH owners handbook. I'd believe the handbook.

    80 and 73.

I believe that the tank goes back a long way.

In its first appearance, it would have been 17.5 gallons, which equates to about 79.55 litres.

In the early metric days, they called this specific tank 80 litres.

However, you could only full the tank by trickle filling, and if you then parked the car in the hot sun, could end up with overflow into the charcoal canister and poor running.

From the VS, the tank sizes were modified to give the approximate quantity to the first click of the bowser. Thus the old 14 gallons (63.6 litres) became 59, and the 17.5 gallons became 73 instead of 80.

It is OK to trickle feed provided you then immediately drive for at least 50 kilometres. There is a note in the owners manual to that effect.

As to showing 84 litres on your trip computer, what is the calibration figure? If it is 0.0, then I would expect it to read no more than 79.55 litres when full.

    Yep,

computer is showing 0.0 and still shows just over the majic 80litre mark.
    Filled up today @ 83.3litres.

Its a trickle feed process, but i live 30km out of town so it never gets a small drive!
