I checked the trip computer for any faults and it came back with all 0.

My wife drives it and she probably does about 7 or 8 k's a day if that
That check in the dash panel where it shows Trouble Codes doesn't have anything to do with the engine (BCM, TCM) and is just a check of the dash panel functions itself I'm led to believe. I'll stand corrected on that.

The ONLY way to have an accurate idea of fuel consumption is to record how much you put in versus how far you go.
I keep a logbook record of how much I put in, the odometer, the date and cost and have done that for every vehicle I have had. I also note where it was when I go away on a trip. It is very handy for seeing trends and other info. Oil added too outside of the normal changes.

With very short journeys totalling 7-8 km over the day the engine will have barely got to operating temp (not ideal for longevity of the engine) and it is a lot of stop/start so the fuel use will be very high.
I would dare to say for the given conditions that the fuel use indication could be fairly reasonable.

I just checked my average speed on the display and it reads 14.3 km/hr. Its even lower than what I first mentioned. I went to holden yesterday and bought the PCV hose. I'm going to change it today hopefully once the weather clears up and see how it goes.

Go for a 100km or so drive and get your average speed up and see if your economy is normal.
Your chasing ghosts otherwise.

Impossible to get decent fuel economy when you're never in top gear....

Fill it up. Drive 100km. Fill it up again. That's your real L/100km :)

Pull the oxygen sensors, the tips will be black if its faulty, after trial and error I found NTK (NGK) oxygen sensors are the most accurate and reliable besides GM and Bosch, stay away from others especially the PEZ brand on EGAY, they are real bad. guaranteed the 02s are faulty/

Well I managed to change the PCV hose, it was in a terrible condition, especially that 90 degree bend at the throttle body.

I took it for a bit of a cruise to get my average speed up and as it was slowly going up, the consumption was slowly coming down.

Instead of an average speed of 14.3 km/hr for a consumption of 23 L/100 km, I got it to an average speed of 19.4 km/hr with a consumption of 17.4 L/100 km.

So there you go, I learnt something today. Don't know how I can solve the problem other than take the car for a cruise on the weekend.

So your car doesn't have a 'live' real-time fuel consumption display?

it has instantaneous consumption in diagnostic mode on the dash, but it's not easy to interpret.
