guys - you have to remember it takes a while for the motor to get "run in ' and allow time for it to gain optimal fuel economy

Thats a load of crap - edit I have found it to be a load of crap.

My SIDI now has 20,000k on it and the fuel economy hasnt changed at all. I followed holdens run in procedure to the letter. It gets great economy on the highway, but when your only averaging 25kmh in stop start city trafic the economy is going to be bad.

I was told the same thing when I got my SV6 VZ ute. Once run in the fuel economy didnt change either.

I average about 11.3l/100kms. It doesn't matter what fuel is in it and it has only gained marginal improvement from the day I got it. It's only got a little over 6500 on it so still fairly new. Haven't done a long trip in it to see what it gets (full tank of h/way driving) but I have seen it get down to 10/100kms just from venturing into a few 100/110km zones on a short trip.

Edit: It's a 2010 VE Berlina SIDI, also the idling for 30secs is normal. The Non-SIDI used to idle for a much longer period but to save a bit more petrol in the SIDI they shortened the idle warm up time.

Iv got an 06 SSV auto, and im averaging 17lt/100ks. And i do mix driving as well. My service is up to date on the car. Can tyres really make a difference on fuel economy? But then again the car is from factory I havent done anything to it.

Atm it's around 38kph and sitting at 10.8/100km's. I looked at it tonight. I'll double check it tomorrow and clarify, knowing my luck I read it wrong. Also it has about 6900kms on it not 6500 like I stated. Not much more but thought I'd quote the right km's. Most of the time I am running mobil unleaded, just their base stuff (91octane I think).
