fuel filter

This is probably old but what way does the fuel flow?? I had a mechanic change mine yesterday and he said the original was on wrong way but now its like my car is starving for fuel.....any help?? He has the flow arrow facing fo the drivers side

Arrow on filter faces in the the direction of fuel flow..

Yeah the old arrow was gone so not sure which way its supoosed to be
