How so won't it fit? Should just spin it round and fold it upwards. It sure looks right. Is it that plastic box thing where it clips on causing grief? It doesn't come off, leaving just the sieve and the attachment? Take a close up picture of the thing for us so I can see it right.

Only ones I know and use are the ones you get everywhere here, the generic one I showed in the pic, that Camry use. Look just like a paddle pop. Pictures you sent so far look like the same one.

This one:

If you want to put the original back in you can give it a whirl in the washing machine. I just wash them with my rags. Come out snow white. That will fix the problem for a bit but it will come back.

Don't peak out if you didn't get it together. Clean the original and put it back in. You got good practice. I got a full tank of gas at the moment, but when it runs low I actually want to pull out Frankenpump and replace it with the new one I bought from Australia, with the replacement sieve. I will take some pics to make it all a bit clearer. Then you can try again.

Good evening. I'm at work tonight till late. I'll make a video and post a link tommrow mornjng if you would be able to check here then. I'm on Perth time btw. So it clips on reasonably tight. I rotate the fuel pump to slip the fuel pump and filter back into the swirl tank. It catches the side of on the way in half knocking off and then when the hosing forces it to turn it knocks off the filter. If the plastic housing could be removed I could make it work I think. Its just to bulky. It's that horrible thing we have all felt when we know something works/fits but just can't work out how. Thanks

Make me laugh a lot. Good on you, mate. That's the spirit.

The car will love that uninhibited supply of fuel.

To fix the hosing issue I used vice grips to twist. The issue was that the metal kinks and angles on the vice grips were just cracking and cutting the hard brittle plastic hosing (on the spare). To solve this I wrapped socks around them and then was able to slowly twist. I'm sure soft rubber pliers are a thing but nothing wrong with this way.

The plastic housing in the way was resolved with tough love. Started filing, thought to myself f*** this and got out a saw. Quite funny watching a 5mm of plastic being cut off by a full size saw hahah. Anyways that 5mm off was enough to get it to fit. For others either try one of eat ya brains filters or order the one from Toyota and cut it.

After that just carefully push it in and bobs your uncle your good to go. Will post a final update once I see if it's made fuel gauge improvements. I'm sure the cars loving a bit of extra petrol.

Just a quick one for people who aren't great with cars like myself. Once fuel has been taken out of system to start it again you need to pump the accelerator. I had my foot down on it wondering why it wouldn't start lol.

Thanks for all your help mate really enjoyed learning how to do it and your instructions were great

Twin VX II Berlinas - "Vanessa" and "Geraldine"
I don't know sorry, mate. I have only worked on VYs and VZs so far. Last Holden I owned before that was a HZ station wagon, years ago in Australia.

Good lawd where are you located? That's quite the car selection. My husband has a HZ wagon he's owned for about 23 years. Premier, twin headlight front with the fin cutouts in the front guards. If you want a VX I've got a few spares that I really should rehome before they rot away in the yard!

I live in the desert between Mecca and Jeddah, in Saudi Arabia.

I loved my HZ wagon. It was a Kingswood, that kind of aquamarine colour. My grandmum gave it to me. It was the indestructible car that had the magical power of being able to drive itself home and be waiting in the garage every time I wondered where I left it...until my older brother totalled it trying to navigate his way home from Beef Week. I guess it is still rotting in the cow cane out the back of our old farm.

Those H series Premiers were the classiest station wagons ever built. Before the HZ, I had a HJ wagon with a Premier front end. I imagine your husband enjoys polishing his, and then standing back to admire.

Thanks for the offer of spares. It is very kind of you.
