Fuel guage reading

Ive just replaced the sender unit in my wb ute as th old one was blocked with old crap fuel
Ive put approx 40 ltr of new fuel in it
The dash( gts style) shows the needle just above empty.
How long should it take for the fuel guage to react to show a normal fuel level?

Have you got the correct sender or the sender you have is rooted? It should work pretty much instantly I remember plugging them in and testing them before swapping the sender over.

can take the sender back out and plug it in with an earth connected and turn key on and move float by hand to full and empty to make sure the gauge reads the same, this will either let u know there is a sender issue or an issue once its in the tank, or even a gauge issue, WB should be 73-10 ohms reading ? also do not earth the sender wire as a test it can kill the gauge very quickly

Ive tested the guage using a resistor and it’s ok
Ive tested the new sender in the tank with approx 40ltrs of fuel in it and it reads 73 ohms.

Take the new sender back out of the tank and test it with a multi meter.
As I said on Fastlane, I am confident the new repro sender Rares sold you is a dud.
If it does test to be a dud then take the sender back to your RSP store, along with your multi meter and show them.

sounds like the float may not be floating or its stuck on empty level

Some of these repro tank units the rheostat windings have been found to be rooted, straight out of the box.

Tested the sender out of the tank
It tested ok. Bent the sender arm as far as I dare go. Guage now reads 1/2 tank with 45-48 litres in it

Ive now filled the tank and get a guage reading of 3/4 tank
The sender wire terminal shows 18ohms
