Could try put some injector cleaner in the tank and fill the tank up if it's stuck it might clean the sender ...or it might be a guage or earthing problem

Is it an original fuel pump (assembly)..? If so I would first check grounding as ant797 suggested.
Next to check is just tap the bottom of the tank - if you can see where the return line or pressure line start with some light taps with a rubber hammer along that axis.
The idea is that the fuel pump assembly sits on the bottom of the tank, so two things can occur..
1) the float arm free's up if stuck
2) any electrical connection that's gotten loose over time in the assembly settle back in place or come off - ether way you know it's where the issue is.
Note , don't bash, just tap - the plastic is old and can be a brittle by now.

Maybe the Float has fallen off the Sender arm, or the actual unit,
Still sounds like a Drop the Tank out job either way.
Its not a hard job, just time consuming.

Edit: Check onboard computer menu, that may also assist.

My fuel gauge is permanently showing full
mine was going off its head again the other day, dropping to zero fuel from half tank then goes back up to half again for half the day and settled down.

some had the opposite reading senders in them so some when they fail will read full and some will read empty
