Yeah, job done, car fixed, no cost to you :)
The dealer can refer to the statutory warranty repair anyway they want to.
We know the truth and that’s all that matters ;)
Not worth trying to educate them as they often behave as if they are number than door knobs :p

Your manufacturers New Vehicle Warranty is defined as expiring on 11/08/2017 or @ 100,000kms (whichever occurred first). Sadly Holden have taken the view that your manufacturers warranty has indeed expired. They have also taken the view that because you bought the vehicle privately that ACL does not apply.

Though both views may be strictly correct, it’s hardly a fair view. Yes at the moment the issue is localised to LS3 engines so you are not impacted by that problem. But injectors are a life of vehicle component so shouldn’t fail.

The injectors are not durable and if they failed in some earlier, some previous year, you may have had a different outcome. Heck as a private purchaser who services at the dealer, this is what good will is actually meant for. Holdens actions here tell us all what they now think of their old customers. Good will is out the door.

Id still give your consumer group a call and clarify your situation. I’d also give ACCC a call and state that this issue should have been handled as a recall and I’d go through the process of lodging a recall complaint.

Holden are being arsehats really

Still, if you’ve got no joy, get some injectors directly from the states as they are much cheaper, then replace on.y the faulty injectors. Have this done at an independant repairer and keep all receipts or bills. Holden itself states only impacts LS3 at this age? Do they really mean only impacts LS3 at this states? If so tnere may be scope to claw back your costs at a later date if it ends up being a recall... which is why all who have been impacted by such injector failure should get on to DOTARS or ACCC and lodge a recall complaint :p

2015 SSV VFII. Purchased new - well out of warranty now. Went to the rough idle over the weekend with engine and ESP lights on and then into service this morning. Injector failure - advised to replace all eight. All done by 10:30AM. Not bad, except no mention of any know issues with LS3 injectors. Paid retail for the lot.

Get home and find this thread. Urrrgh!

Upside is the car runs great and downtime was negligible. Downside is now the follow up..... We'll see how we go.

At a dealer or 3rd party workshop?

In any case, I’d be calling HCC and putting it to them that they should refund the cost incurred for fixing Holdens product defect which should have been corrected via a recall. And while they are at it get them to throw in some freebies (parts, accessories, whatever you think is reasonable for the inconvenience and frustration this issue has caused you)...
