VS Ecotec injectors versus VT Ecotec injectors.

Does anybody have actual flow rate charts or a link to site for these? I am trying to find the exact operating pressure, I have been told the VS ones have a higher flow rate but they both operate at 43.5 psi, which is 3 bar. Somewhere else here someone said that the VT has an operating pressure of 3.5 bar or about 50.8 psi. Fitting the VS injectors to a VT will apparently give it a better fuel delivery at higher revs because of the higher flow rate, but the thing that puzzles me is if they have the same working pressure won't the ECU control the duration of which they are opened? If the VS injectors had a lower working pressure and a higher flow rate, won't it open slightly earlier and for a touch longer at the VT's 3.5 bar pressure? Thus giving it more fuel because it flows better at higher revs. But the downside would be that because they open earlier and longer they would increase fuel usage at lower revs or normal everyday town driving.

    Can someone enlighten me?

isn't the VS ecu's self learning, so when you make a slight alteration it soon learns and compensates etc

found some info on holden injectors, if you can work out which is which then you should find the info you want, use find and search for holden and you should find the info no worries.

Great site, thanks for that. It doesn't go into exact models for the injectors but it's close enough for what I need.

Also, I found the working pressure of a VT fuel system to be 39-51 psi, does anyone have the VS manual and can tell me what that is? I only have a VT manual.

    Hey Not_An_Abba_Fan,

Just having a look in the VR V6 gregorys now (all credits to them).

    Fuel pressure:

Fuel pump relay connector terminals 87 and 30 bridged (Assume this is when the fuel pump is pumping hard): 300 +/- 20 kpa (43.51 +/- 2.9 psi)

    At idle: 250kpa +/- 10kpa (36.26 +/- 1.45 psi)

Thanks kopper69, the VT is certainly higher than that. So the VS would be a bit higher too probably.

A guy a know is using VS injectors in a stroked VT and is getting more power right across the range and getting a bit better speed from each gear. Same fuel consumption at highway cruising but a lot worse around town. I suppose the constant on-off with the accelerator would be pouring bucket loads of fuel in.

The figures for the VS from Gregorys are:
    at idle ....approx 280Kpa (40psi)
at idle with pressure regulator hose disconnected...320 - 350Kpa (46-50psi)
    Regards

Wow, so the VS fuel system pressure is the same as the VT. Maybe having the VS injectors in a VT gives it more fuel. Good for power, not for economy.

Are they a straight fit? I also remember reading that disconnecting the vacuum hose off the pressure reg should increase the fuel pressure. Would you expect more power/worse economy if you were to disconnect this vacuum hose? Probably going to get error codes though.

I owned my VS for 12 months before I discovered the hose to the fuel pressure regulator was disconnected and noticed no difference when reconnected. This was a disappointment as I thought I scored BIG.
Whatever - the ECU will trim the opening time for the injectors back anyway.

Thats what I was wondering too. I know its probably very in depth, but how far does the computer go at trying to compensate for mods like that. Say you put in some injectors that are going to give higher flow and a bit more power, is the computer going to come in and cut the time the injectors are on right back anyway?

i wonder how smart the ecu really is, i know that it can work out if its running rich or lean n correct it, but if dropping in say eg double the flow rate of standard. i dont think the ecu will be able to reduce the flow according to the O2 sensors, would be outside of its injector tables i would think, but i reackon it would try its damn lil hardest :)

i guess that was for an extream senerio, so i would think mildlly bigger injectors it would still be able to compensate but it would be borderline.

The ECU will trim it back as much as it can. Remembering that the O2 sensors are narrow band and only read rich or lean. When you floor it, the O2 sensor isn't working so the flow of the injector will be up around its maximum. Cruising though I don't think it would make that much difference as the amount of fuel used is minimal. I was trying to work out why fitting VS injectors to a stroked VT would make it more responsive and increase each gear speed. On a 3.8 they would be running rich all the time i think, but the 4.2 would use the fuel they put in. That is my theory anyway.

the vs run a pintle output spray and vts run 4 little holes
the vs 5ltr is higher flow rate to vt v6 ones
end of the day i tryed 5 difert types injectors and some made a little difference but you should get bigger flow injectors and remap and thats the winning way

The big one with the vs injectors is they make the top end smoother, say from about 4k up. thats just on the 3.8

    Do all injectors work/fit?

Hey do high flow injectors for supercharged engines fit or work in a non supercharged vr commodore?
if so wudnt it provide better performance for sure?

you might notice a slight increase in performance, providing you get a tune to suit, otherwise you would just run rich, it would run like crap tbh unless it was tuned.

i'll be putting in my L67 injectors 500hp fuel pump, LS1 maf and a tune for a supercharged setup from greenfoam well before the charger goes in, should all run as normal.

should i put 42lb injectors in my car will it run fine untuned big cam, heaps of head work, 19psi pulley?.
ive already got them im thinking of putting them in before the tune or will it be too rich?
