went to fill the car this arvo, as it gave a big cough when i went around a corner quickish:whistling this morning. anyways the bloody petrol caps missing. either some wanker has tried to syphon my petrol or i forgot to put it back last time i filled it 4 weeks ago(unlikely but i guess there is always a first time.)

i wonder how much gas you could loose due to evaporation over a couple of weeks?

Just pop into a random servo and claim you lost your cap there and see if they have any to suit a commodore. We have like a whole draw of em at work.

Without a fuel cap, the fuel will not only evaporate but it will go stale very quickly. 91 octane fuel will suddenly be 80 octane a few days later :p

i run 95 but that could explain why it was running crap for the last couple of weeks. it does seem like it chewed through the fuel lately

Yeah same thing happened to me Im very sure of tightening the petrol cap everytime I fill up but one week I noticed I had used more fuel then normal and went to fill up and the cap was just barely hanging on the thread as I turned it and it come off and I was like WTF ?? anyhow I had a good think about and and realised it must have been the ********s living few houses up as they have been riding those minibikes and pocketbikes around the whole block at all hours of the night and believe they must have taken some out , also 2 months before that the whole street owners cars had number plates removed and they had taken my front one but not the back as the car was parked in my driveway so would have heard something. These idiots up the street are selling drugs as well :( people always sitting in cars outside or waiting for someone sitting on the corner.

I decided to buy a petrol cap with lock from kmart and put on.Next couple weeks I kept eye on the car and one saturday morning found a very thin piece of metal in shape of a paddle pop stick which I was able to open then petrol filler metal cover.

    the bastards tried again hahahahah

If I ever caught someone on my property I can assure you I would make turn them into compost for my nice garden ...

My cars already had attempted break in as my drivers window is very loose and wobbly and also I got small dents on each door handle all in the sme night so they tried breaking them to get in but must have been smoking too much ice and had the strength of a pensioner.I was drinking at the pub so wish I had been home :(

anyhow I haven't had any problems lately thankfuly but I recommend these key lock petrol caps especially with the price of fuel these days & use bolts or similar to stop your number plates being stolen and used in petrol drive offs and costing you $$$ to get new plates which I was very ****ed off about :(
