    Hi,

Sorry original post in wrong forum.

Looking to buy a 05/06 Acclaim wagon or Subaru Outback 2.5.

The Holden has a much better initial buy price so is very tempting.

Could anyone help me with the mileage they are getting around the city in the V6 wagon.

I've made some assumptions (see below) and would like some real data to make my final decision.

I figure if I use 10/100 for the Outback and 13/100 for the Holden wagon (as average) and I travel say 30,000 a year.
    @ $1.50 litre thats $1,350 diff x 5 years = $6,750
    @ $2.00 litre thats $1,800 diff x 5 years = $9,000
    @ $2.50 litre thats $2,250 diff x 5 years = $11,200
    now I'm crying
    @ $3.00 litre that s $2,700 diff x 5 years = $13,500

    Ouch!!!

Any real figure would be great.

Thanks in advance for any help,

    Kind Regards,

    Eric

Hi phantom, I have a 05 Acclaim (at) & an 06 Liberty Sedan (5mt) and in the real world there is not a lot of difference in fuel consumption. On steady highway cruise the Liberty will get 8-9L/100km but is rubbish in stop start driving (up to 14 in city traffic). The Acclaim usually gets around 12, on a good trip you can get it under 10. Apparently Auto Subes are better than manuals, but when I bought mine I thought the Auto was rubbish to drive (hunting for gears, not enough grunt from the 2.5 etc). Remember, you have to drive the Subaru harder to get going and that costs money.

The service costs of the Subaru are far higher but more little things seem to break on the Acclaim. The Acclaim is a much more comfortable car (driving position, seat & suspension). The Acclaim kills you on depreciation, although if you're buying a used one of either, someone else has paid the really nasty part !

Hope that helps, happy to answer questions.
