hi, my vs is getting hard to start first thing in the morning or late at night after been sitting for say 6 or more hours (night work), it cranks over for about 3 seconds then fires but when hot it starts first time but when cold and it starts can smells fuel smell and soetimes if in an enclosed arear like a drive through at maccas etc it has a slight smell to. i took the vacum line off teh regulator and there was some oily sludg in there when i put my finger over the vacum inlet on the regulator. also caoul smell a strong fuel smell mixed in witth the oily stuff and the hose smelt a it like fuel

anyway is the regulator stuffed? injectors have been replaced although some orings are leaking i will be fixing tha in a few days but it was doing this even before i put different injectors in

    cheers

sounds like your reg is leaking fuel into the manifold thru the vac line and the black sludge will be the perished rubber , replace the reg and your troubles should be gone along with improve fuel economy and better starting

I did the same with a VT wagon...buy quality clamps if you can find them and used 2 at each end.
