fuel pressure regulator symptoms?

    I just pulled the vacuum hose off the fuel pressure regulator on the ecotec.
    blew through it and brown jism some out in my hand like oily fuel. smells like 2stroke. Could this just be crank case vapours condensing in the hose, or does it mean my regulator is leaking ? What are the symptoms when the regulator is on its way out ?
    Doubt it can cause my code 47 but maybe the jerky , slow, spluttering acceleration.. How much are they and are they genuine only ?:cry:

    will a VR pressure reg fot a VS ? shop telld me will fit with a longer vac hose ?

    What symptoms would i notice if it was dying.... thanks
