Probably best to go to a fuel injection specialist. They would have dozens of different size O-rings that would be fuel compatible . ( probably cheap too)

Take the old one to a bearing supplier like CBC and ask for a replacement in Viton. If there's a suitable shape available you get industrial quality components for cents.

Thanks everyone for your input. I have to eat some humble pie and admit that I found the O-ring with the new regulator. It was loose in the box and had slipped under one of the flaps in the bottom of the box. So I had myself (and some of you) wound up over nothing. My apologies. I think it is reasonable to assume any new regulator will come with a new O ring.
Regulator is now fitted and hopefully now I will get some better economy figures than 15L per 100km.
