hey guy's, i've got a vs exec wagon. i'm having problems with the fuel system. the car takes a while to start as like it's got no fuel in the system. i've changed fuel pump, filter and had the injectors pulled out and cleaned and put back in. the car will start but when you touch the throttle it wants to die as it's starving for fuel. and it idles rough. i have changed the fuel filter again, works for a little while but then does all over again. cause i was stranded yesterday with the car i ran fuel line from the tank to the fuel supply line disgarding the fuel filter set up and what do you know. it works. i know i need to run a fuel filter but if i do it seems like it's restricting fuel. any help would be greatly appreciated...
When you bypassed the fuel filter, did you use the same fuel lines, and simply add a short piece of hose to pass the filter? Or did you run some longer hose, bypassing the filter and some of the hoses joined to the filter. Hope you can make sense of that. I am trying to say, maybe there is an obstruction in the fuel lines somewhere? Maybe in the piece of tubing between the fuel tank and fuel filter. I know some of them are metal pipes, which are a bit harder to check. Maybe get the air gun to blow them out. But the rubber hose you might be able to take out and look through. Just on that, when I did my fuel pump a little while ago, I noticed a small plastic piece one of the lines (could be the return line). It looked like a small filter. Can anyone confirm that this should be in there.
