That was my thought. Saw a couple of YouTube vides of people installing them over in the states and this one appears to be closer. My eldest thinks they stretched repaired that part of the floor to compensate for the rails and replaced it. The cover has now provided plenty of room.

Are the bushes for the rear subframe collapsed maybe?

I'm kind of hanging on what the issue is here. It's like a who Dunnit or something.

I know right! it's the weirdest thing ever. Once it's figured out, there are a few mechanical shops and one holden dealership hanging to know and I guess learn.

Good job mate
Thanks for the photos and write up, I want to do this as well, keen to change fuel filter and didn’t want the hassle of dropping sub frame etc.
Thanks again

So, a little frustrating update that almost made me scream every swear word known to mankind over and over, but I took a deep breath and didn't because undoing the cover today after he drove for 100km the last 2 days revealed absolutely no fuel on top of the tank. Nothing, nada, zip, zero and I mean not even a hint of a smell when usually we would have it trickling down the side of the tank.

I mean yes, my sons over the moon with the result but as the one chasing the problem has left me scratching my head only to conclude that it was the floor of the car being applying pressure on top of the tank. Out of the car it wouldn't leak when full of fuel.

So, I have told him that I will be convinced after he has driven to work for a few days and has kept the tank as full as he can in that time, then we will check again on Wednesday.

If anyone has some thoughts, please feel free to share because I'm happy yet confused. I have chased this leak everywhere, and it just kept leaking and then it just stopped.

A quick spot of info about the install of the cover is that no, you don't have to do anything to the underside of the seat and no you don't feel it sitting on the seat. Saw people asking these questions on YouTube and never got answered. The quality of this kit that I got made everything seal up perfectly and looks professional when done.

It likely would have been at the quick fit connection. Has a small o-ring that seals the system under pressure. If the tank was pressing against the body, it would be enough to make the fitting not form a proper seal and leak when pressurised.

Perhaps open the pump cover, start the car and wiggle the fuel hose coupling and see if there is any signs of leaking? And if not, try pushing on the fuel module assembly in different spots and see if the large o-ring is leaking?

It does sound a bit like Murphy’s law is in play - make it easy to fix and it doesn’t need fixing! :)

I did think about pushing down on the pump and fittings today and thought about that saying, "let sleeping dogs lie".
Going back to my original thought at the beginning was that quick connect fitting (also noted by Fu Manchu) pressing against the floor was weeping but in a normal un-rearended car this would not be the case. Given that it also had highly yellowed plastic from the fuel marinating it.
Love that Murphy's law, its fits brilliantly here.
