going to remove and replace sender/pickup. Whats the best way
To remove lock ring?

I use a hammer and a piece of hardwood, bit of patience and just keep smacking it a few times on each leg working my way around. If you see a leg bending move to the next one

.. I use a universal (its adjustable size wise) fuel tank locking wrench, TOLEDO brand

available at decent auto tool stores ( I bought mine years ago, worth its weight in gold, especially
with early Commodores which use an oring. The tool rotates the locking ring without twisting the oring)

Yeah ok. I spotted a replica of the original tool on ebay. Wow $159

Ok, does your wrench engage the inner tabs or the outer ones?
