I havent watched them.

Im in no rush to watch them, the other 6 arent coming out any sooner.

I wasnt very impressed with the season opening. But usually Ep2 and Ep9 are the big ones.

first two episodes were a let down. 3rd episodes picked up. havent watched the 4th yet.

bit sad considering when i first got it, i couldnt press the stop button. i had to watch episode after episode.

well the show is pretty much making up there own stories atm

You will get up to around book 3 without dipping into current story lines.

Book 4 and 5 are a two part which covers season 4 and 5. However, most of book 4 has happened so you SHOULD be ok there. There might be the odd one or two small parts that are being wrapped up.

Season 5 is mostly made up and a little bit from book 5.

Book 3, 4 and 5 also has the Greyjoy storyline which hasnt even happened in the show yet and theres also the Griff plot in book 5 which we arent sure is in the show or not at this stage

I highly recommend reading the early books. Books 1-3 are really good and you will pick up sooo many hidden secrets and plots that are very loosely mentioned on the show.
