I have priced this unit and it retails for a little over $700. The installation sounds complicated, especially if you want it fully intergrated into the vehicles controls as per the YouTube video. I was quoted around $2000 supplied and installed.

Did you have to make up a wire harness yourself for this unit?

Would be interesting to know how to wire it up to the main unit. On the driver side I can see where the current ISO sockets go in but there are some empty spots where I suspect you have to wire it in.

Don't see how I would come across a socket to match what is there.

I supply the interface and the connectors/terminals to allow the garmin nav to connect to the head unit without any mods to the car/headunit

the only catch is that you need to order the RGB harness when you order the gvn53 nav unit.

The install is easy if you are confident with electrical work.
Cheers

Thanks, I will shop around, but the installer I spoke to was talking about harnesses and loomes and bypass thingies so that the DVD in the back seat would still work whilst using the GPS upfront. It seems that if I am happy not to have DVD working at the same time and happy to operate with the remote only then the install cost would be less.

The installer you spoke to must not be up to speed with ve's!

This nav system has nothing to do with the rear dvd. They are totally separate inputs - one is composite and the other RGB.

Try another installer.
