this weekend im picking up a lvl 3 cluster for the vs, now my question is being a factory gas car will the distance to empty on the lvl3 cluster also work for the gas when i switch it over anyone know from experiance? i had a good search aswell but no straight awnser
well im not sure with the factory lpg. but with mone. it has been converted to gas and it only shows the distance to empty for petrol but shows the real time lpg usage
does yours use the factory fuel gauge when you switch them over? or have you got a seprate guage else where
Mine has a seperate gauge where the fog light switch would go on a ss. basically its just a switch with 4 led's to tell you the level of gas in the tank.
ah yerp, thats where my button is. cheers for that though Haydz anyone had much luck with this? anyone running a stato or calais on lpg?
no problems man. if there is anything else you want to know feel free to ask. i think you may find it a bit harder to find another factory lpg car as at the time they were being made. petrol was only like 80 cents a litre so there was no real want for it. but i will keep my eyes out for you.
hey man u wouldnt have a pick of ur gas tank in ur boot would ya?? also is it possible to get the DONUT tank instead of the big long 1??
cheers for that yer my old man had his vb on gas back in 1992 and the price for gas was about 11cents a ltr alot cheaper then now nah not really, but i can tommorow if you want. just looks like every other tank donut tanks? like wheel shaped to fit in the spare wheel well, i have no idea but it would be illegal as you wont have a spare
oh **** sake lol i dont want the big ugly tank... .then i gota move my amps n ****t ffs :cry: show a pic of urs but
ive got a sub and amp its not the end of the world, suppose when was the last time i opened the boot hahahaha yer ill get a pic for you tommorow, genrally dont bother to much with photos of the car as its my daily till i get my vl finished, just borrowing my vls rims and sub/amp
the clubbie had a lvl 3 cluster, gas and petrol ran off the stock gauge and when i switched to gas the DTE adjusted to what i had left in the gas tank.
Your DTE will still work if you get a guage sender to suit the VS (for the LPG tank) and have it wired up so when using gas the gas level will be shown on the petrol gauge. I do this with all the commodores I convert (with standard system)
cheers for that Jason, some good news there:thumbsup: well this is a factory gas system and it uses the petrol guage to show the amount of fuel, so in theroy it should work it more so will it work, as im upgrading from a lvl 1 cluster to lvl 3 i wasnt to sure if it was going to work on DTE. the car has never had the DTE function and i didnt know if the car would calculate using the lpg fuel level sensor but apparnelty JD's clubbie did work
Yes You can get a Donut Tank That will fit in your spare wheel well. but then obviously you wont be carrying a spare or will have it floating around in the boot. many people use the donut tank in station wagons as the spare on them goes under the false floor. The Laws On spare Wheels state. If you have a spare tyre in the car it must have road worthy tread.but you do not have to carry a spare tyre.
Just to confirm, it can be done with an LPG memcal (and presumably the factory size - APA - LPG tank): http://www.apexus.com.au/document/kits/qk102.pdf (Page 2)
im alrite with that i realy realy dont want the big tank lol what do u think the donut tanks sizes are roughly?
http://www.apamfg.com.au/Downloads/product_downlods/APA Product Wall Chart Poster.pdf K275 K306 At the bottom in the middle. Various brackets are available for fitment into specific cars. One might suit.
thank you very much for that Cheap6, spot on what i was after yer APA tank and going buy the list you posted 68ltr tank, i always thought it was a 60ltr positive rep coming your way
