The motor is out of my vh and I am in the slow process of buying parts and having it put
back together. The motor is a vp 355 stroker. What is the best gasket set to buy and who
sells them? Thanks

Rubber sump gasket
Rubber rocker cover gasket
I use MLS head gasket (cometic)
Paper water pump, timer cover, fuel pump gaskets with sealant
Actually, use sealant on rubber gaskets too.
O-ring on thermostat works good.
I am using torque power intake mani gaskets as they have bigger ports.

Thats all I can think of right now.

The durapro sets with graphite head gaskets are the go. Good value for money. Think I read TK recommends the graphite gaskets for decent budget builds somewhere on av8. I've used them quite a few times on different engines without issue.

As Deuce said, rubber sump and rocker cover gaskets are a must.

x2 on the Durapro, I have used them and they are decent. I normally buy gaskets from an engine reconditioner as they are way cheaper than most other places. But shop around as some recoers charge like wounded bulls on parts. If it is anything like Launceston, one recoer can be 50% more exi than another.

Compression 10.1, pocket ported heads, 2.02 inlet valves, cam undecided but won't be anything big. If hydraulic roller something like crow cam 4903. If solid camtech 662. Come racing twin throttle body. 4 speed auto. 3.45 diff ratio. The car is only ever going to be a cruiser.

Very good to know. I am running less comp, come590 heads, and same intake mani and diff as you. I would very very interested in how it goes after your tune and maybe a copy of some of the maps as there are a few small things that need tidying up on my tune since manifold swap.

That Crow is really designed for the bananas intake. I wouldn't recommend it for yours.
The camtech is for early heads, but if they can do same grind for efi heads it looks alright.
And I would stay hydraulic. As you say, it is only going to be a cruiser, so max valvetrain efficiency at 6000+ rpm is not a priority.

4903 is perfect for bananas - I have one that will be going with a starr intake. I’d go something around 226/[email protected] on 112 L/C with .550-.600 lift to keep good reliability and useable power with the come manifold.

I would look at:
Camtech CT2248 49903 (230/233 .579 on a 110)
Or my preference, crow 41433: 228/238 .600 on a 110
