Gave car a good belting now knocking when cold??

    Hi people, just wondering what I have done to car if anyone has any ideas:-( car is ve l98 6 speed auto ... Had a new wrx p*****g me off other night so put up with it so long then so on so on. Revved through all gears.... Now on cold start next morning knock knock knock knock when under load then when hits operating temp goes away?? Have I spun a main or stuffed a wrist pin? I had in back of mind these engines were tough:-( car has 138k on it oil filter changed religiously every 5 k cheers in advance;-)

    Probably stressed or broke something. Good luck. Perhaps the public road(s) not the place to settle your egotistical urges.

    My guess would be to first check your pulleys..

    And what did the WRX do to piss you off so much? If it had a decent driver you would've been handed your arse on a platter..

    Are you just being paranoid? Are you sure it didn't sound like that before!
    I doubt you broke anything cars are meant to be driven hard its not like you were limiter bashing

    Nah not that brutal too it:) only mods are extractors and hi flow cats and mafless tune, it's no power house! Thought buying a Calais no one would pester me anymore:-(

    Took belt off and ran engine with no accessorys still knock noise:-(

    How bad is the knock? Where is it coming from?

    Does it get better when the car warms up?

    Yeah goes away when warmed up. It seems like it is from lower drivers side.

    Smash ya pulley bearings with a bit of spray lube.. That'll at least rule them out..

    He's already taken the serpentine belt off and run it to eliminate that as a problem.

    A sound clip would help, but it's not really something that can be accuratly diagnosed over the internet.

    Sorry dude.. I missed that post..

    But yeah ticking noises when cold can be alot of things.. Mine used to tick but went away when new lifters got put in..

    Standard 6.0 knock/rattle problems that have been talked about forever on here, and other places. Is it an AFM engine?
