Hey all,

Recently I broke the gear selector shaft on my v6 vy ute (manual) and I'm having trouble finding a replacement part (it's the shaft that connects the bottom of the gear stick to the transmission, approx 34cm long, solid pin on each end) Being in darwin probably doesn't help but I've even been contacting a few wreckers around aus and it's been difficult locating one, Or one that will be sold separately.

I have come across someone who has a VS ute with a getrag box but it's a v8. I was wondering if anyone would know if the selector shafts are the same?

Thanks in advance!

Ok thanks, am having a bit of trouble finding many v6 5 speed vy wrecks though... am waiting to here back from some wreckers. If you know of someone who could post me the part, I would be very interested. Got a part number too, it's 92053348. I did try googling that number but only to find it linking to shafts for the v8 model? However a holden parts interperator is telling me the v8 5 speed would be different...

I can definitely relate to your drama of trying to source any replacement parts in Darwin.
VS to VY used the Getrag 260 M35 5 speed gearbox
I'm just not 100% sure that the gearshift linkages are all the same length from VS to VY though
Here is a couple of links to some for sale on Ebay

OK so it broke, so can it be welded.
That's what we would have done years ago.
Actually, that is what I would still do today.
