Was driving in traffic this morning and i noticed a grinding sorta wearing noise coming from the gearbox area when i depressed the clutch in neutral.

One set of lights it was an uneven sorta grind like an un-balanced rotation of something...

And when i got home it was just a constant grind...

Very quiet but i could pick up on it...

    Ideas?

If the noise is only noticable when you put ur foot on the clutch...and the actual clutch is not slipping under load/ heavy acceleration i would suggest that it could be your throw-out bearing. It is a cheap fix, if you are doing it yourself but it is a gearbox out job. While you are there may be worthwhile to check your clutch plate and pressure plate too. See if there are any signs of abnormal or excessive wear or the fingers on the pressure plate are sticking out evenly etc. Finally if there is any signs of oil leaks from the rear engine main seal then it is definetly worth the time and effort to address this too.
So if you are doing it yourself it can cost you anywhere between $10 for a replacement bearing to $350- $400 for a replacement clutch.

The clutch has abit of a slip in it under a flogging...
I only noticed this noise today and its only when the clutche is engaged in neutral... so not when i got my foot on it...

Yeah a new HD clutch is on the cars... in the next couple months... so i might get this bearing replaced too

Sounds like an input shaft bearing. If it was the thrust bearing it would do it with your foot just starting to take up the pressure of the clutch. When you get a new clutch kit, this bearing comes with.

It's only doing it with your foot on the clutch in neutral or foot off in neutral?
