How it happened- i was cruising along just before, accelerating out of a corner, and my ute slipped out of gear and the shift lever felt as though there was nothing to connect it to the gearbox, like something that connects it to the gears and whatnot had come undone. so the shifter movies around anywhere and its stuck in 2nd i think, what could it be and how could i fix it. Also i had the clutch replaced earlier today so could the mechanic had stuffed something up?
Probably just the screws that connect the shift lever to the shifter below. Pull the rubber boot off and the inner rubber boot under that and have a look.
Or there's a circlip that holds the linkages on the shifter as well had it happen to a mates car like u said stick just flops around lol
