I'm in need of urgent help..

I've just traveled back from Adelaide to port lincoln and as I came up to Arno bay my car started to play up.

I'm not sure wether it's motor or gearbox but it stared off feeling like just a quick miss then it was fine. Then it felt as if I was running outta fuel.. Motor seemed to by dying and started slowing down, then suddenly it was fine again. THEN I'd be driving along and if I pushed the accelerator the slightest bit more it'd rev right up then Suddenly kick in ( slipping ).

It mainly happens when accelerating or going up hill. If it means anything, it was 30+ degrees today and I drove a long distance.

Ill get a compression test sometime this week ( I suspect my rings are going because there was little oil dots on the rear of the car ).

    Any information would be fantastic..

    Thankyou.

You could have bits of oil on the back of your car just from a bad oil leak under the car if it was rings I'd expect you would have seen white smoke from the exhaust. Can you do a code check?

Just pop your head under you car and have a quick look around but I'd say even if there was a leak its not going to be part of the problem your having.
Best bet would be a quick code check other wise you need to start looking at DFI, coil packs, CAS (being it was a hot day), maybe a blocked fuel filter. And that's before you start looking into why it was slipping

Check fluid level in Transmission - also if it hasn't been serviced or trans fluid changed in last 2 years then I'd do that as well.
Little spots of oil on back of car can be caused by coolant getting into combustion chambers usually from a leaky inlet manifold gasket - the coolant condenses in the exhaust sytem and gets spat out the tailpipe as sooty droplets. This will be accompanied by loss of coolant.

    Just a update..

I haven't got into any checking yet, although I've taken the day off work to do so. After doing my morning run about the car seemed to be running fine ..until it warmed up. Then it begun to play up again. Although this time there was a small backfire as I accelerated.

Do the code check, it sounds like it could be a CAS if its only doing it whilst warm. If it does it again try pouring some cool water or the CAS.

Could well need a new fuel filter. Missing at times and a backfire sounds like it's lean, so the filter is dirty. Has it had a new one recently?
