Gearbox Problems

I have a auto vs v8 ute. Now my problem is that it won't go into overdrive/4th gear. It sits in 3rd gear at a bout 3000 - 3500rpm. Does anyone know what the problem could be? Also i get fault code 72, which is vehicle speed sensor, could this have anything to do with it? Thanks.

I'd imagine the vehicle speed sensor tells the gearbox that the car is now going at XX speed and its OK to select overdrive (4th). If buggered then the car will not select overdrive because it doesn't know the speed of the car. Check all connectors from gearbox.....maybe you have a bad connector. Good Luck.
