Yes mate was an issue beat up by a jealous Sydney tuner who basically went hysterical as he thought it opportune to make stuff up.
At the core of the matter are two points: Walkinshaw general manager is a megalomaniac responsible for ridiculous change and decisions over the past year or so, runs it like his personal fettish and gets personally offended when NSW HWP gives more thanks to the tuner and franchise holders rather than completely Walkinshaw as one of the parts suppliers to the showcase GTS. A PR stuff up because Walkinshaw is at odds with the spec ordered by the Superindendent in charge of NSW HWP.
Ford was the only vehicle broken due to fuel, nothing to do with Steve at OzTrack, yet ironically Steve (who unfairly copped it from GM at Walkinshaw for doing exactly what the Police asked over the same weekend), was subsequently asked to advise and repair the Ford.
Dale from CHE revved up a bunch of haters across several forums, FaceBook about Steve breaking the two showcase cars, which was a total fabrication. Shame.
In sum Walkinshaw got jealous about OzTrack getting attention over the GTS, the Ford was the only car broken and had nothing to do with Steve (except he was asked to fix it).
As per usual the unruly internet rumour mob was revved by the usual suspects to hate for no reason apart from one company's pecuniary gain.
