G'day, I've finnally managed to burn out the clutch in my 5 speed Getrag. Does anybody know if a t5 clutch will suit and an approx price of what these clutches might be worth?
OUCH, unlucky mate the getrags are expensive when you do the clutch. it cost my mate $900 to replace the clutch and flywheel is his vs ute, luckily mines fine atm touch wood, It is so expensive cause the flywheel alsohas to be replaced or machined (possibly), not sure if a T5 clutch will fit it but im thinking it wont
Nah it won't unfortunately. The throw out bearing and pressure plate different for a start. I had the chance to pick up a clutch kit off ebay the other day but was informed by the local parts guy that it won't fit my T5
Solid Flywheel Replacements There are solid flywheel replacements available. To convert from Getrag to solid flywheel and new clutch is usually just a little cheaper that genuine replacement. However, subsequent replacements are much cheaper. One source is Excedy. I looked into it, but stayed genuine as first clutch lasted nine years in my old VS II.
oh well i guess i gotta pay what i gotta pay. Cheers for that guys and i have learnt that trying to spin the wheels with a full load in the tray is NOT a good idea!!
getrag flywheel cannot be machined as it has a grooved/ raised section in it. mine cost $1100 for bottom line extreem at mta price
o ok i didnt think it could be machined either, heard off another member that it could be but was sceptical hence the "machined?" thankfully my mechanic checked mine this week and its all sweet
