Have been looking at putting a manual into my VS auto. Swapped engines a few years ago and it has a 98 VT in it. Been looking at all the info here and it seems a T5 would be the best way to go for many reasons but have been offered a complete getrag manual exchange out of a VT. I am a little worried about wiring issues between the getrag and the series 1 VS. Is this a big deal???

I would be more worried about the mount on the gear box not fitting. Dont be worried about the wiring, its is never going to be a simple plug in and drive away thing with auto to manual conversions. one bonus is though you can use your auto PCM because the Getrag has the same VSS signal as the auto box, all you need to do is re-pin one wire on the PCM and get a chip made, then wire reverse lights and bridge the starter inhibitor switch.

and you will have to separately source the interior panels, and pedal box, master cylinder etc.

Thanks for those replies. Wiring has tended to worry me a bit ...but guess I'll have a go when the time comes. Havent had much of a look at VT's ever and I wrongly assumed? that I would be able to easily get a mount for the getrag to fit the VS body as the Series 2 did have them as original. How much of a problem is this going to be as the getrag is definately from a VT. Cheers

Vt has the same motor as the VS, it will be no problem at all. wiring is piss easy.
