VX SS 6spd + 7psi
hey guys,
got my 6spd manual vx ss,
and i seem to get smoked off the line by gen3autos, cause they can just sit on the brake and just go flat out at the change,

but ive gotta do the whole clutch thing..(ohh here come the u cant drive for **** jokes)haha
but anyone have a good recipe for gettin off the line super quick in a manual?

would it be trac off, sit the clutch on friction point with no accel then accel at green?
or just rev and dump the clutch quick?(or slow) with trac off? or on?

just seeing how other manual drivers get a good leap off the line....
cheers guys

For my car, I rev to about 3500rpm, then let the clutch halfway into the friction point and floor it 3/4. Adjust throttle as needed, and ease out of the clutch altogether as the wheels stop spinning.

You need to experiment a bit and find out what is the best rpm to hold your engine at before you start releasing the clutch, what morton said is pretty good. I have a mate with an xr6t, and has worked out that his optimum revs are at 3500, and he can pretty much dump the clutch, get mimum wheelspin, and it rockets off the line, you just need a bit of experimentation to find out what is best for you.

It's all practice and technique. You do have a bit of a choice though - get bogged down (slow) or slip the clutch a bit for the first little way for the fastest launch.

a manual should smoke a auto of the line no problems. i know as i have a ls1 auto.

if you are getting too much wheel spind try some low revs, let it bog down a little or release the clutch a bit slower. once you are away you will catch a auto. the auto's are very sluggish down low unless they have a stally(like me). lol

Balance of clutch, accelerator and handbrake if you have the ability to multi-task. If not leave the handbrake out of it (have seen people do this, forget the handbrake and bake the handbrake pads).

ls1 bout 3000 seems about the best amount of revs.
