Just quickly , i was using an electric pump to pump up my spare tyre. I didn't have the keys in the ignition but when i plugged the pump into the socket in the console my radio came on and my electric ariel went up but wouldn't cut out when it was fully extended and now it is stuck in the up position but you can still hear the motor working when you turn the ignition on and off. What i was wondering is why would my radio come on if i didn't even have the ignition on ,and when i unplugger the pump the radio didnt go off , i had to turn the ignition on then turn it off to turn the radio off.
Were you cursing blasphemy in the name of the ol' mighty one whilst you were pumping up your spare tyre? Seriously, I'm surprised you get power out of your cig. lighter socket without the key in the acc. mode. It seems like your car electrics has been modified and only way i can think thats been done is somebody has bridged or reroute your electrics from the back of your radio to the cig. lighter. There is a wire in the back of the radio that gives constant power to the radio to keep the clock running regardless if the key is in the ignition or not, and for some insane reason, somebody decided to wire that to your cig. socket as well...thats just my guess. Have you tried plugging anything else such as phone charger etc and see if that causes the same effect on your radio without the key in the ignition?
Thanks for the reply , I have tried the phone charger and there was no problems .It wouldn't work without the key in the acc mode . The thing that i found strange was that when i unplugged the pump from the cig lighter the radio stayed on . The car was an ex company car so everything is pretty much stock including the radio. And no i wasn't cursing , well not untill the ariel broke lol
The best way to get rid of the ghost is do an exorcism, a 12" bar and drop it across the battery terminals:rofl::rofl::rofl:
