Sound's like a step in the right direction. Now all they need is a couple of overhead cams.... But I do like the V8 rumble....

Of course it won't really matter what power they make with it in the US as they will just de-tune it a bit (maybe a lot, like the LS1) for use here in the commodore...At least at the start.

There was talk once, that GM were to develop twin cam and 4 valves per cylinder for their OHV motors.

Why does it need OHC?

It doesn't. But you can make power easier, and is smoother. (I'm talking about twin cams or more)

OHC allows for superior cylinder head design - more direct ports as they don't have pushrods in the way, better high rpm stability, lower valve spring pressures
GM's best small block V8 - IMO....
The 5.7L, LT5 405hp/385ft lbs (302kw/522Nm)
this was back in 1993 - imagine the potential it would have today with modern engine management/ignition systems & higher octane fuels

anyone think this engine will be more free-revving?.. they've done wonders since the LS1.... the LS2 in the vz/ve's feels alot lighter under foot, but could be sportier if it had a lighter feel. though guess the car has to cater for more than the sport-blooded feel...

325kw - yummy. This should give the Coyote a run for it's money....wonder what the Torque figures are. would be interesting to see a dyno power graph....
