Hey guys, looking at buying a new SV6 VE, trading in my current 01 VX. Looking at a white 11 plated demo, with minimal k's for $33990. Registered til December and It's an auto as well. Fairly keen on it, even though I'm going to get sweet F all for my VX. Seems a bit cheaper than anything else I have looked at recently, and i'm pretty sure it's a good deal, but just wanted some thoughts from some guys on here, on both the price and buying demo's. Cheers
Dude dont buy a new car. Ive seen 2010 sv6's at the auctions with 30k - 50k on the clock for $22k - 26k For example: Vehicle Detail - Pickles Auctions Australia Buying a new car is just paying a premium for being a dumbshit.
Or it's paying a premium to own a new car, not owned or driven by anyone else, ever. If you can afford it and want it, why not buy it?
Demo's cop a fair flogging. I'd be finding something with around 40,000km on the clock and say a year old, will lose at least $5,000 off that price and still have a car that drives like it rolled out of the showroom and has plenty of warranty.
Well there must be a lot of dumbshits out there then. Just think, where would all you smart people be if all us "dumbshits" wised up and stopped buying new cars? There'd be no used cars for you to buy would there?
if you can afford a new car , don't let jealous people put you off... i'd much rather pay a few extra grand and have a car with "minimal k's" as you put it... you make good money , so enjoy yourself.. On holden's site they have brand new SV6's for $36,990 driveaway , which there would be room for a bit of bartering on that aswell...if you wanted to try your luck with a brand new one..
There will always be dumbshits out there lol. But hey, thats just my opinion. Im not trying to start a **** fight. Whether he takes my advice is up to him, maybe he wants a new car. I could have bought a new car but i chose to by a 1 n half year old. And with the money i saved, i went twin turbo.
Calais Sportwagon - $50k drive away brand new with reverse camera. Calais Sportwagon - $36k drive away 9 months old and less than 8,000km on it, with reverse camera, owned by Holden from brand new so not even a demonstrator. A good deal buying used? ABSOLUTELY! Am I happy? ABSOLUTELY! If I had a budget for $50k when I was looking for a new car would I have ordered one brand new? ABSOLUTELY!
A few comments: * In terms of price I think it's pretty good. I'd call them back and say another dealer has said they should be able to match the price with a new car and have invited you in for a chat, see what they say. Be prepared to pay a deposit when you call. Maybe hold out until later in the month if you can. * Holden are supposed to be doing 5 year warranty at the moment, have they offered this? * If you consider an Equipe you'll get a car that essentially feels like you're sitting in a Calais V (seats, wheels, reverse camera, luxury dash) but downgrade to the 3.0 engine with less torque. Will be the same price or less than the SV6. Depends on what you want. I find the SV6 a bit ugly inside. * As DeadxPatriot mentioned Holden are doing great prices on the SS which is the SV6 with a V8 engine. * If you consider used or Auctions, note I recently purchased a 2011 VEII Berlina International Sportwagon in black with 5,000km for $28K.
Buy a new one. Just for the experience (good or bad) Everybody should own and experience at least one new car at some stage in their life if you can afford it!
Thanks for all the replies guys. Interesting to see the different opinions on new/demo vs used. Having today after work gone and had a very brief look around at some used SV6's, and VE SS's, I think I may be leaning this way after all. At some point later in my life I intent to buy a brand new HSV (still got a fair chunk of my life ahead of me ), so buying new right now isn't essential. As has been said previously though, I do want to experience buying a brand new car at some stage. I think if I could get a used SV6/SS, with a few extra's, for a fair bit cheaper than a new SV6, I think i'd be a very happy man. Thanks again guys, much appreciated, and i'll keep you updated. Hopefully posting some pics of my new ride in the near future.
Theres a pretty good looking VE SV6 for sale in the cars for sale section here....not sure if he's sold it yet but it looks pretty good...if I had the cash I'd probly pick it up off him. http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/vehicles-sale/191560-ve-sv6-2007-a.html
Look for the words "executive driven". They are basically the cars owned by Holden, and driven by the sales team. When I was looking at Series 2's, there was about 7 of them at this "Used" Holden dealership in nearly every colour. Right next door to Holden's brand newies. The prices were considerably lower, but the cars had only done about 3-4k, and were as new basically.
Look at what I sold my ute for 12 months old 2010 sidi ve sv6 ute bought new for $35000 with wheels toolbox etc etc. Sold it with just on 40000 kays for $26500. The car was immaculate not a mark at all on it. Did someone get a good deal hell yes. The new/second market has some very well taken care of cars so don't rule them out also you may save 10k on new.
Hi, I think $33,990 for a low km demo SV6 auto (if you want an auto) is very good value. If you check, the $36,990 price new is for a manual, not auto. The usual rebate is $1,500 for a demo plus $1,000 for last year's model, so $5K off (auto is +$2K over the manual) is not bad. As for demo's being thrashed, I can understand that for SS, but less sure for SV6. Remember there are those who claim that it is best to give a new engine a hard life at the start to avoid glazed bores. However, continued thrashing in a 50K car would definitely not be good. Finally, MY11 Series II is a vast improvement on MY10 Series I in the SV6. If you can afford it, why not go the demo. Do you have a GM Card, or does any direct relative have one? An extra $3K off would be a no brainer in my opinion.
Hi, GM Card is a lapsed loyalty credit card. It allowed 10% of all expenditure to be accured against the cost of a new or demonstrator Holden. The maximum rebate started at $3,000 for all vehicles, but changed lately to $3K on Commodore and derivatives, and lesser amounts for others. For some time, the rebates could be passed to just about anyone, but have now reverted to direct family members. The scheme closed on 01/09/11 I think, but accured rebates remain in place until they are used or lapse five years after being accured. I have personally used $12K of rebates on 4 Commodores, and have passed another $44,750 on to family and friends since I got the card in the mid-90's.
I reckon wait 12 months, and buy a new Toyota FT-86. Get something that everyone would be jelly about
