I use NGK and they have been on 2 1/2 years, roughly 50 000k's.

For cars running on gas you need leads designed for that purpose although normal ones can be used at a pinch. Apparently gas requires a higher voltage to make the spark occur than petrol which can cause cheaper leads to fail... also they say the gap needs to be reduced to 1.0mm.

My car is running on gas and the leads (Top Gun) are holding up very nicely, especially compared to the ones i replaced.

(Sorry forgot to mention in my previous post that my car was fitted with LPG)

9mm leads (eagles) are what runs best for holdens on gas and yer gap the plugs between .8 to 1

on gas you shouldnt have a problem also get the gas mixer to be close to the throttle body because the long the pipe from the mixer to the throttle body the more likely it is to backfire when stoppin your foot at low revs. (learnt the had way)

Also if your really keen as well you can try making custom flaps for the airbox, however do not put a CAI on your air box due to the air box runs off pressure and will affect the gas system. Unless you impco system, then you can shove as much as air as you like.

    Hope this helps,

    SlyVR

Thanks SlyVR, just got my car converted today, drove it back home late afternoon, its about 100 klm's distance and she drove real well on gas, i couldn't tell the difference between the fuels , i switched back to petrol for the last 4 klm, i do have an IMPCO kit fitted, i told they gas guy that i wanted nothing but the best leeds for my car, new plugs & filter, i actually forgot about asking what leeds he put in all the rush[very busy place ] i will check them out tomorrow, but so far so good , only cost me $28 to fill gas tank, what a big difference.
I have no idea about custom flaps though, what are they all about mate?
    thanks
    Ron

if your airbox blows up then, you can put flaps on the airbox so when its about to blow up the pressure comes out the flaps and saves your box from going boom... pretty much your airfilter feels the affect tho lol

i very very very doubt you will have any problems with a IMPCO system, did you get it installed in SA? or another state? and iam guessing then you got a dyno run to make sure it was running sweet?

I see, thanks SlyVR, the conversion was done in Altona in Vic, its been running real well, i have done around 1,000 klm's since the conversion with no backfires, no problems with it at all, i still give it a drink of petrol on every trip i do, as its all country driving, she switches over from one to the other with no problems as long as i have the revs up to about 2500 its fine, i am real happy with the conversion.
They said to bring it back when i had done about 1,000 klms for an slight adjustment, so that will be done very soon.

wow, it's good to hear all went well for you.

I use Bosch performance leads all heat shielded where it meets the spark plug and stuff.

They have been on for about 30 thousand and going strong.
