Hi Guys,

Just wondering where you guys have mounted your amps in late model commodores?

I was looking at the traditional under the seat mount but there is bugger all room under there.

I am now considering a vertical mount on the right side of the boot. I realise mounting vertically is not good for heat dissipation, so I'm open to other suggestions. Would also be interested to hear any actual experience with mounting amps vertically (positive and negative).

Thanks

I've got a VX and b4 the gas conversion I mounted my amps (3 of em) under the parcel shelf. There is heaps of room under there, and you dont even notice them when the boot is open.

As far as mounting goes, its all circuit board (electronic/solid state)stuff inside, mounting it vertical aint guna hurt it.

Any other questions bout running cables etc, shoot.

Cheers, Keegan

I had mine mounted under the parcel shelf in the boot of my vy, but I have recently taken it down to fit a car pc in. If you do mount it underneath the parcel shelf, make sure it is one with a fan, as heat rises, so the heat will rise back onto the amp if it doesnt have a fan to blow it away.!!!

You may not have had problems, but it shouldn't be done. It will reduce the life of the amp and can cause it to go into thermal protection before it would normally. It's best to follow the instructions of the manufacturer and not mount it upside down.

I mounted mine to my sub box, one flat, one vertical.

Upside down alot of the heat goes into the board which is no good for it. When it is vertical it goes to one end but can still radiate upwards from the heatsink.

IF you dont like the idea of mounting the amp upside down why not make a couple of brackets to mount it under the parcel shelf which still hold the amp upright.
