Has anyone got any spare Google wave invitation ? if yes! please invite me. my address is lafanter@gmail.com what is Google wave ? Google Wave - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Sorry to bust your bubble, but invites are extremely limited at this stage and you're very unlikely to get one unless you know someone personally who works for Google or was in one of the early rounds of invitation. I'm told more invites will be distributed in a few months, but it's all "play it by ear" right now - the system is already being pushed to it's limits and is pretty buggy. Once it becomes stable and desktop clients start popping up it has huge potential though.
Without diving too deep into wiki's explanation.. its like all the social networking sites, and windows live messenger all in one package? If so, 'Trillian' attempted this ages ago wth AOL, ICQ, Yahoo, MSN etc.. biggest flail.
honestly? sounds crap. maybe the world should focus on technological advancement instead of paris hilton-esque social networking gimmicks.
pretty sure google has done quite enough lately to not need that kind of attitude. they have plenty of projects going on at once and this is just one of them
You'll notice I said world, not google. Also, im not getting into a protracted argument with you stocky, so I'll leave it at that.
i saw the whole presentation video and I think its gonna be a big thing. and thanks for bursting my bubble danja. lol here is the video if anyones interested YouTube - Google Wave Developer Preview at Google I/O 2009
It's not really anything to do with social networking, its more the evolution of email. You could think of it as being somewhere between email and MSN, with steroids. For context, I work in IT, I hate most forms of social networking with a vengeance, and I don't have an iPhone on principle (and I'm a Mac user primarily), but even I can see the potential in this product, it just needs the kinks ironed out first. It doesn't use existing services (like ICQ/MSN/email/etc), its it's own thing, but the way in which it operates is a bit like MSN, but conversations are persistent, people can be added at any time and see the entire history of the convo chronologically, there are tons of "widgets" that can be dropped into threads (like google searches, maps, voting apps, etc) which participants interact with, responses can be edited by other people a bit like a wiki - it's really quite cool. Watch the video Lafanter poster if you're really interested.
Yeah I never knew about it before, looks SUPER impressive, the real time translation is good for me because I'll be able to speak to my wifes family and friends for the first time ever
